When Does Summer Start in Canada?

The unofficial start to summer is the May 24 Weekend celebrated across Canada as a National public holiday in support of Queen Victoria's birthday.  The official start to summer is the Summer Solstice Thursday June 21. Which also marks the beginning of a 10 day celebration leading up to Canada Day long weekend.

Summer in Canada

A Canadian Summer can be like no other, full of adventure, relaxation, beautiful beaches, First Nations History, fabulous fishing, family time, couples romance with glorious sunsets in a country with dozens of unique cultures and surprises in the 10 provinces and territories. Canadian culture and entertainment comes alive during the summer with music, arts and theatre events and festivals. Many Canadian residents and visitors do not realize that 95 % of Canada's geography lies north of Niagara Falls and Toronto, that means every other province and territory has a north or northern reference relative to Canada's most visited tourist attractions. .
