World's Largest Snow Globe Brings Snow To Barrie

Barrie Ontario Canada. Standing over two stories tall and 20 feet in diameter, the world’s biggest snow globe was unveiled in Barrie on Friday January 19 by the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation (OTMPC) as part of its winter promotion throughout the province of Ontario A stage for all that Ontario has to offer this winter, inside the snow globe a buzz of activity is showcased, highlighting some of the unique and exciting winter activities to be enjoyed. From ice-skating to ice wine, ski hills, snowshoeing, spa retreats to exciting outdoor fun, Ontario offers it all this winter.

“The snow globe is a unique way Ontarians can be reminded of the endless winter fun and diverse experiences on offer in our province,” says Robin Garrett, president and CEO, Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation. “Winter in Ontario may have arrived late this year but it’s here now and it’s time to get into it!”

Many of the staff from the Barrie Information Centre on Highway 400 was out and about serving hot chocolate and prompting winter, which actually arrived with about 5 cm. of snow during the presentation.

After Barrie, the world’s biggest snow globe will be appear north of Toronto at Winterlude in Ottawa (February 2 – 4, 2007), Feb Fest in Kingston (February 8 – 11, 2007). In addition to the snow globe, the OTMPC winter campaign also includes a tourism promotions team and a comprehensive advertising presence at Toronto’s main commuter hub, Union Station. Thousands of commuters every day will be immersed by images of winter activities in Ontario, starting Monday, January 22, 2007, for three weeks.

“The objective of the campaign is to remind Ontarians of the wonderful experiences our province offers and to encourage them to get into winter,” adds Garrett. “Ontario has something for everyone to enjoy, it really is yours to discover!”
