Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights to Celebrate its 25th Anniversary Starting Nov. 3, 2007

Canada's Foremost Illumination Festival Sets Niagara Falls, Ontario Aglow with Three Million Sparkling Lights from November 3, 2007-January 7, 2008.

Niagara Falls, ON (PRWEB) November 1, 2007 -- The Winter Festival of Lights (WFOL) will kick off its 25th Anniversary celebrations beginning Saturday, November 3, 2007 in Queen Victoria Park, along the Niagara Parkway. Opening Ceremonies for the Winter Festival of Lights, presented by Ontario Power Generation, begin at 5:00 pm.

An ideal destination for an Ontario winter getaway, this favorite of Niagara Falls events attracts 1.3 million visitors per year. Opening Ceremonies for the 25th annual Winter Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls features special guests, Disney's© Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, flipping the switch to illuminate hundreds of animated displays, three million tree and ground lights, and launch a kaleidoscope of fireworks to begin the celebrations. The opening night's activities also include home-grown Niagara Falls entertainment with a local choir singing a medley of festive tunes along with previews of shows scheduled for this year's Festival.

"We are proud of the 25 years we've been able to represent Niagara Falls as a marvelous winter destination to visitors from across Ontario, Canada and the rest of the world," stated Ethel White Asbhy, WFOL Chair.

Visitors may enjoy the nightly illuminations of the Winter Festival of Lights beginning at 5:00 pm from November 3 to January 7, 2008. Admission is free but donations are gratefully accepted with proceeds used to enhance the lights and displays. Many area hotels are offering Niagara Falls vacation packages ideal for visitors planning an Ontario winter getaway to the Festival.

Among this year's newest illuminations at the Winter Festival of Lights, visitors will be awed by the oval-shaped (21' H x 42' W x 31' W) Zimmerman Fountain, with its cascading waterfall, animation effect, and the Niagara Parks Police Building lit with LED ColorBlast flood lighting and 28 snowflake displays. Meanwhile, the latest Enchantment of Disney displays feature Lightning McQueen and Mater from the Disney/Pixar© movie, Cars, and Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.

The 2007 Winter Festival of Lights also features a calendar full of festive events including the Niagara Falls Comedy Fest (11/23- 11/24); The Martins Gospel Concert (11/07); The Mantini Sisters Holiday Concert (12/13); Fireworks over the Falls (Fridays: 11/9-12/21; Daily: 12/26-1/6); and much more.
