The FALL COLOUR PROGRESSION REPORT IS PRODUCED
EACH MONDAY AND THURSDAY DURINGTHE BEAUTIFUL FALL COLOUR SEASON,
IN THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO.

LAST REPORT
South-Western
Ontario Region
The Owen
Sound
region reports some small areas of red and gold remaining
with considerable leaf fall. The Beaver Valley
region south of Thornbury reports significant leaf fall with
small areas of muted orange and yellow. There are several excellent
lookout locations in the Beaver Valley as you approach the village
of Kimberley from the south on Grey County
Road 13. Hockley Valley, east of Orangeville
is reporting about 60% leaf fall with some areas of dull orange
and yellow. The Forks of the Credit Provincial Park
near Belfountain offers beautiful
walking trails. There is still some good fall colour viewing
on the 3rd line of Mono Township (Hockley Valley Road). The
Elora and Fergus area is reporting
the fall colour season is coming to an end with 90% leaf fall.
The Royal Botanical Gardens, in the Burlington
and Hamilton
regions is reporting significant leaf fall with small areas
of muted yellows and some oranges remaining. The area along
the eastern shoreline of Lake Huron in the Goderich,
Bayfield region, the fall colour season is winding
down with 85% leaf fall. Fall colour season is also winding
down in the Sarnia
region, with considerable leaf fall. There are some small areas
of yellow and orange remaining. The region is also experiencing
significant leaf fall. There is just a 20% colour change in
the Essex, Kingsville and Point Pelee
areas with about 10% leaf fall.
The colours are now well past peak in the Toronto
area however we still have small areas of dull yellow and orange
throughout the region. The Toronto region is also seeing considerable
leaf fall.
The colour is at PEAK in the
Niagara
Peninsula. The Niagara Parkway from Niagara
on the Lake through to Fort Erie is
always a very popular fall colour location, especially the view
to the north along the Niagara River from the Brock Monument
lookout at Queenston. There are some nice areas
of gold, yellow and orange, with about 20% leaf fall. The country
roads through the wine region of the Peninsula are offering
some nice colour as well at this time.
Northern Ontario Region
The fall colour season has now come to an end across the Northern
Ontario region.
Central Ontario Region
The Parry Sound region across to Muskoka
sees the fall colour season winding down with close to 90% leaf
fall. There are some small areas of yellow and rust remaining.
The Haliburton area has about 60% leaf fall
with some small pockets of dull orange and yellow remaining.
The Barrie, Orillia, Midland and across to
Wasaga Beach area is showing the remaining
colours, generally dull with about 90% leaf fall. The Horseshoe
Valley region, north east of Barrie is still offering
some very small areas of dull orange and dull yellow. The Collingwood
area is reporting the remaining colour generally dull,
at this time, with 70% leaf fall.
Ottawa Region
The Ottawa region reports the colours
now well past peak with about 75% leaf fall in the area. There
are still some small areas of dull yellow and orange remaining.
Eastern Ontario Region
The Pembroke area across to Renfrew
to Arnprior and into the Ottawa Valley
region, the fall colour season as come to an end with about
90% leaf fall. There are small patches of dull orange and yellow
remaining. A fall colour drive, along the 1000 Island Parkway,
is always popular during the fall season. The Prince
Edward County area is reporting the colours well past
peak with small areas of dull yellow and orange and 70% leaf
fall. The region east to Kingston and further
east to Cornwall is reporting the remaining
colours are dull and there is 70% leaf fall.
