Family Day in Canada is February 18 for most provinces and February 11 for B.C. This is the last day of the long weekend, and a number of provinces and communities celebrate with events, festivals and tourist activities embracing a fun long weekend with outdoor winter activities. Canada Heritage Day falls on February 18.

Backyard Bird Count Family Day Weekend
A good place to count birds along with 411Ontariokids is Wye Marsh Wildlife Centrein Midland Ontario. The annual Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is coming up on the February 17-20 long weekend on Canada Heritage Day and Family Day Weekend in Ontario. The four-day event is free and is open to bird watchers of all ages and skill levels. Participants watch birds for any length of time on one or more days of the count and enter their tallies. The GBBC is a joint North American project of the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology with Canadian partner Bird Studies Canada.
Ontario Family Free Ice Fishing Weekend
This year Family Day Free Fishing Weekend is February 16-18 2013 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Monday) is designated as OFFW license-free fishing days. Significance of Third Monday in February in Canada
Although not named family day across Canada, a public holiday occurs in the provinces of Manitoba and Prince Edward Island, the statutory holiday on this date is instead termed Louis Riel Day and Islander Day, respectively. The timing of Family Day coincides with Presidents Day in the United States
