Edmonton Journal......City Hall: 11: 30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Bagpipes will open a day of tours, live entertainment, crafts, face-painting, stilt-walkers and a petting zoo. Also, visit the city room for a Canada ceremony at noon.
Edmonton Garrison: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. There will be a host of activities including a military drum line, a tank crushing a car, a zipline, aboriginal acts and Ukrainian dances. Some Edmonton Oilers with be there, with the cheer team, signing autographs and playing ball hockey. Bring your lawn chairs to the fireworks and concert, which Spirit of the West is headlining.

Selkirk
The Selkirk Journal........ Manitoba Avenue, Selkirk Park, and Selkirk’s Waterfront are the places to be in Selkirk on Canada Day. The Manitoba Avenue Street Festival kicks off at 10 a.m. and will include a four on four street hockey tournament, face painting, and live music. Children will have the opportunity to the historic avenue come alive with paint by participating in an event being themed as, painting the avenue. Selkirk Park will be hosting plenty of action on Canada Day. The Sand Castle Building Contest starts at 11 a.m. and the Skateboard Competition and Geocaching Scavenger Hunt get underway at 12 p.m. and run until 3 p.m. Live entertainment hits the new 480 square foot stage at 6 p.m. and features performances by Hurricane Jenny, Prairie Men, and the Sternat Sisters, just to name a few. Canada Day fireworks display will light up the sky shortly after dusk at around 10:45 p.m.
